Destratification fans
In a building with high ceilings, the heat you pay for ends up at the roof. A destratification fan pushes that warm air back down and mixes it through the space, so the floor stays at temperature with less heating.
We supply and install GALE Series HVLS destratification fans across Canada, from 14 to 24 ft in diameter.
What destratification does
Warm air rises. In a 30 ft warehouse, the air at the roof can be much warmer than the air at floor level, where your team works and your thermostat reads. The heaters keep running to warm the floor while the heat collects overhead.
A large fan turning slowly moves that whole column of air. Temperatures even out from floor to ceiling, the heating system runs less, and in summer the same fan gives you steady airflow across the floor.
Two kinds of destratification fan
HVLS fans
14 to 24 ft across, turning slowly. They move a large volume of air at low speed and cover a lot of floor per fan. They suit buildings with ceilings from about 16 ft up, which is most warehouses and industrial buildings. This is what we supply.
Column or in-line destratification fans
Small units that push a narrow stream of air down. They suit lower ceilings, tight spaces between racking, and buildings where a large fan won't fit.
If your ceilings are over 20 ft and the floor is reasonably open, HVLS fans do more with fewer units. Below that, or in a heavily obstructed space, a column fan can be the better answer. We'll tell you if that's your situation.

$3,000 to $4,000 per fan in Ontario
Enbridge Gas pays a per-fan incentive for destratification fans in qualifying Ontario warehouses. GALE Series fans from 14 to 24 ft meet the fan requirements. Your building has to qualify too, and we check that before you get a proposal.
Where destratification fans make the most difference
- Warehouses and distribution centres with ceilings over 22 ft
- Manufacturing floors with roof-level unit heaters
- Buildings where the thermostat sits at floor level and the heat sits at the roof
- Any high-bay space where the floor is cold while the roof is warm
The taller the building, the bigger the temperature gap, and the more there is to recover.
Frequently asked questions
Any fan whose job is to mix the warm air trapped at the ceiling back into the rest of the space. HVLS fans do it by moving a large volume of air slowly across a wide area. Column fans do it by pushing a narrow stream of air down.
No. In winter they even out the temperature and cut heating. In summer the same fan runs faster and moves air across the floor, which makes the space feel cooler for the people working in it.
It depends on ceiling height, how warm the roof space gets, and your operating hours. Enbridge has a calculator that estimates the gas savings for your building.
GALE Series fans mount from 13 ft up to 66 ft depending on the model. The Enbridge incentive needs at least 22 ft, but destratification is worth doing in lower buildings too, without the incentive.
No. GALE Series fans run at 38 dB or less. The blades are large and turn slowly, so they move a lot of air without the noise of high-speed fans.
Yes, across Canada. Outside Ontario we find and qualify local installers and supervise the installation.
